Spanish for specific purposes: business Spanish

For the final memorial of ELLE´s course which I followed, there was a Spanish course for specific purposes, which hasn´t been easy and it required much attention and dedication. However, it was totally worth it because it helped me bring my business experience of over 20 years in a very different activity as teaching and do my best, which would be very difficult under different conditions.

The focus of this course is within the so-called “specialized language” and in this case I oriented the profession of management.

We are part of a global context were the demand of teaching foreign languages has increased dramatically, especially in recent years and Spanish is one of the most popular languages.
Especially in companies, the demand of learning different languages is even bigger, due to globalization.

By having a business experience and conversely a lack of it as a teacher, I found the idea of focusing the accurate memory in something that would allow me to at least provide my professional knowledge in the trade and transfer them to the classroom.
It has been a rewarding experience and I continued learning as it was being developed.

I have experienced the consequences of engaging students in the teaching-learning process. It helps learners to become aware of their own progress and also the teacher to learn how to react more positively to the needs of students in each block of contents so that in each case, the inputs and the tools needed are provided.

Although I was aware of it before the memorial, thanks to ELE course that I took, I was able to elaborate it better and extern my knowledge when I experienced it.

Teaching other languages involves much more than just a linguistic form to the students. You have to know how to transfer them to other social and cultural realities. Thus, the students will understand why the acquisition of a language other than yours is so important, since it allows you to understand a different culture. Also it will provide the basis for their motivation, which is very important in learning.
Focusing learning on a communicative context such as contextualize the tools that are used in our teaching, helps to ensure that our students will be excited while learning a second language but also that they will achieve the objectives in a more natural way which in the long term strengthen their learning.

As personal experience, I will say that to contextualize these tools created for the course, has helped me a lot the extensive experience as a professional in other areas. It has motivated me and made me realize that every Spanish teacher can apply his knowledge in other subjects in their class and enrich the teaching methods and teaching in general.
