Spanish Teacher from Colombia in Norway

Reasons  why  you have carried out this Course, what brought you to carry it out, expectations and what have you learnt and how has your understanding of Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language developeda nd in what direction.

My interest in teaching Spanish arose after moving to live in Norway, and on seeing the interest that Norwegians had for learning Spanish. In Colombia I worked as a teacher for a short time, therefore I have a lot of interest in pedagogy and teaching techniques.

After my experience learning in a second language, Norwegian: It seemed very interesting to me to study teaching methodologies and to know more in-depth about how the system of levels and contents relating to the teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language works.

I have really liked being able to study online, and the methodology of the course, my expectations have been better than expected, since I have now learnt better techniques for teaching, as well as understanding how the pupil's learning process works; at the same time it has been very useful for my own benefit for the  continuation of my second language studies.

As a pupil I am very critical of language teachers, a lot of them lack creativity, methodology and they do not have the necessary charisma so  that the pupils are inspired to learn a second language. Pupils arrive wanting to learn a lot, but at the end of the class , they begin to doubt whether to continue learning. Therefore it is very important that teachers know the most effective system of teaching very well to  reach the students and to get them to achieve their learning objectives.

The course helped me to recognise possible errors in teaching, and  how  to be a good teacher, focussing  more on the student, what he should learn, and how to help him to learn; using the methodology that most fits in each case.

I feel very happy succeeding in finishing this course, now i believe that I will be a better Spanish teacher and also a better language student. Now I understand better the reason, for activities that a teacher does in a class, and how these activities help a student with his/her learning.
