My opinion on the Advanced Course for Teachers of Spanish

Having completed the Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language course I decided, after some doubts, to do the Advanced Course. However, I was not sure if the course would prove to be as informative or interesting as the previous one.

Now I am at the point of completing this course and I can confirm that it has very much exceeded my expectations.

The field of teaching Spanish as a foreign language turns out to be wide and varied. Thanks to ongoing research and improvement of methodologies you can always learn new things. As a result of this course I have acquired a new perspective of the world, including about all of the fields of study directed at non-native speakers and the teaching of Spanish with different goals, which has taught me how to overcome certain challenges that the teaching Spanish brings about. I have discovered through this course a wealth of information aimed at solving problems that arise in any area of teaching Spanish as a foreign language that you might come across in your career.

The module that has most interested me has been Spanish with Specific Aims. In this module I have acquired a new understanding of the different aspects of being a teacher, which interested me a lot. This field of teaching Spanish is one where there is a great deal of interaction with the students, whom you can always learn from. It interested me that the teacher in this field tailors the language of the lesson to a specific field, being knowledgeable but not an expert of this field. Through such challenges you can learn a lot as a teacher, perhaps as much as your students! This interaction can be easily facilitated and be very productive, with the student highlighting a concept to the teacher and the teacher demonstrating how it is spoken correctly. Through such interactions you are providing the student with information and skills that they can use in the real world, for example with a client, and this is a positive experience for both parties.

Also I have enjoyed the introduction of new technology to the world of teaching Spanish. It has been fascinating to see the rapid technical evolution of the world and how this technology aids the student. This provides a teacher of Spanish with a huge range of possibilities for the learning and teaching of Spanish (and any other language) as a second language. This is an innovative and dynamic form of teaching that provides learning tools for all.

In conclusion, from my point of view this course would be highly recommendable for those that wish to broaden their knowledge of the teaching and learning of Spanish as a foreign language. Through this course I have discovered a new pillar of knowledge that I can draw upon in future.
