Reasons to complete the Teach Spanish as a Foreign Language course online

My name is Carmen Torrijos, I am a teacher and I give classes to first stage secondary school students. I teach English, therefore, I have been working with the methodology of teaching languages for a long time during my career (just over 20 years).

I have always been attracted by languages and different cultures which open your mind to new ways of thinking. I have had the opportunity to get to know many people in the world of education, including colleagues, friends and students... and I have learnt many things from them that fill me with pride and enrich my own life.

Being a teacher is not an easy job, but I am passionate about the challenge. When a student learns something new you have aided that and participated with them, making the job very much worthwhile.

I completed this course because I wanted to experiment with the teachings and methodologies which I work with all the time subconsciously in my own language and towards other types of student.

From the beginning I found the course very interesting, the theoretical part was rather useful and the practical element was engaging. I spent the vast majority of my time doing my job and caring for my family, which made the online course ideal as I was able to complete it more flexibly. I was able to work at my own pace, even though I would have preferred to have completed it at an earlier date, I appreciated the loose time limits.

Also I would like to thank my tutor, Alfredo, for his feedback, instructions and his willingness to help at any moment to answer any questions I had.

I would recommend this course to any teacher whose job is related with languages. In my case I have gained a new understanding of teaching Spanish and I have reflected about my role as a teacher of languages in general as a result of this course.

Looking to the future I have been given a brand new perspective on certain aspects of the methodology of teaching languages, as well as with everything to do with the method of assessing students. In addition, this course has shed new light on the importance of understanding the class from the students perspective and, going forward, tailoring the methodology and educative process to them.

I hope that in the future I can take part in a similarly interesting course.
