Learn to be a Spanish teacher in England and Spain
My interest in teaching Spanish as a foreign language increased two years ago. Thanks to a university scholarship I could collaborate with an international organisation in the area of non-formal Spanish education and there I discovered that Spanish was a very desirable language.
In the majority of education centres, especially in the private ones, there was the option to learn Spanish as a second language and due to this many students were looking for native Spanish teachers to help enhance their understanding. Thus, I began to give Spanish classes in my free time while continuing with the scholarship.
It was a great and intriguing experience, and at the same time, it made me realise that despite it being my mother tongue, I found it difficult to explain, understand and even remember certain grammatical aspects and notions of my own language. Luckily, my students were not as demanding with me as I was with myself…and I promised myself that I would not return to teaching Spanish classes until I had done a relevant course. My scholarship finished, I returned to Spain and continued my with my working life and stopped teaching Spanish.
Two years have passed since then and finally I have decided to return through to the door I left open in England to the world of teaching Spanish. And here I am, at the final part of my teaching course with Instituto Hemingway and with a lot more resources and experience than I had 2 years ago in England. The time has come for me to put them into practice and this time in Spain.
