Every month at Instituto Hemingway, we design a programme of carefully selected and completely free cultural activities for our Spanish students. This month, we’re looking forward to Carnaval.

Spanish courses and wine-tasting in Bilbao

Yesterday, 9th of June 2011 in Instituto Hemingway took place wine-tasting. Alfredo was our “profesor de vino”. The wine tasting was part of the leisure activities that our Spanish school offers in the evening for all students taking part in the Spanish courses.At the beginning Alfredo brought 3 bottles of red wines and opened them, because wine should be open some time before drinking and has time to breathe.

Instituto hemingway fix every month organized activities, the day, time and the name of the activity.

All of the students on the Spanish courses are invited to participate. All the activities are free for the students of Instituto Hemingway. These activities are very interesting, diverse and allow you to visit Bilbao and its surroundings. Here are some examples of the activities for this month

Leisure activities during Spanish courses in Bilbao: it’s regatta time!

Students from our Spanish school have the opportunity to take part in various leisure activities after class, as well as at the weekend. Today, Sunday the 17th April, the river in Bilbao has become one big party to celebrate the XXXI edition of the traditional rowing regatta. So that´s where we´re heading!

The origin of tapas: our students of Spanish ask where they come from

Every Friday, students from our Spanish school in Bilbao go for a tapas tour around Bilbao. We regularly meet in school at 7pm and head towards the Casco Viejo, or old town, where we enjoy a few tapas, or pintxos, washed down with a few drinks. It is around this time that our students start to ask: where do tapas come from?

We hosts a conference on Ernest Hemingway: an ambassador of Spanish language

Next Tuesday, the 5th of April, Instituto Hemingway is organising a conference on the 50th anniversary of the death of Ernest Hemingway and his relationship to Spain, the world of bullfighting, Pamplona and Bilbao.

Bullfighting, Spanish course and festivals in Bilbao

The 21.August is the beginning of the festivals in Bilbao. The Semana Grande lasts 9 days and includes an immense number of activities.
