Two-Day Culinary Course in Bilbao

If you've been to Bilbao you certainly will have heard about the city's gastronomic reputation. At Instituto Hemingway, we have created a 2 -day Basque culinary experience, for you to gain some first-hand knowledge of the local cuisine .

You will learn how to cook some of the tradition dishes of the region, bacalao al pil-pil (cod in a chilli and garlic sauce), tortilla de patata and paella. You will visit an authentic sidería (cider house), where the traditional menu of steak and tortilla de bacalao is served, all washed down with as much cider as you can drink. We will introduce you to the famous pinchos bars of Bilbao and take you to a typical market to see the selection of local meat and fish.

When visiting Spain, you can't pass up an opportunity to sample some of the local wine. Included in this culinary weekend is a wine-tasting session and a visit to a wine cellar in La Rioja. You will learn the about the varieties of wine, the different grapes used, and the basic techniques involved in wine-tasting.
