Jobs teaching Spanish in England and Wales
We have fantastic news for students who have finished our Spanish Teaching Course and would like to work in England or Wales. Many of our newly qualified Spanish teachers have asked us about such opportunities. Although British citizens must fulfil specific requirements to teach in British primary and secondary schools, the requisites are different for Spanish citizens.
British teachers must complete a teaching course which gives them qualified teacher status (QTC). In contrast, Spanish teachers who are qualified to teach in Spain, are permitted, without the need for further training, to teach in other EU countries according to the European Commission Directive 89/48/EEC.
In other words, on completion of the General Teaching Council of England (GTCE) application form, a Spanish language teacher from Spain can teach in England or Wales. This form is available from www.gtce.org.uk , or alternatively, you can contact the GTCE by phone on 0370 001 0308 or in writing to the following address:

If the GTCE grants QTS, teachers can apply for jobs as Spanish teachers in England and Wales. You can find information about how to get a job as a teacher in the United Kingdom on the following pages.
