Spanish course, cultural activities and July's programme

Every month Instituto Hemingway organises a varied programme of completely free cultural activities for all our students of the Spanish language. We believe that this is the best way for the students to explore the city and to get to know their classmates. Now that it's summer, we have organised some very special excursions this month.

In order to make the most of this fantastic weather, we have planned a boat trip (Monday 7), and a visit to the Sopelana beach the following day (Tuesday 8). We believe in mixing culture with fun and so we have arranged a visit to a photo exhibition in Plentzia on Monday 14, followed by a trip to the beach. On Wednesday 16, we will head off to Castro Urdiales, a nearby coastal town, popular for its beaches and its harbour.

San Fermin has started and to celebrate it, we will go to the Bill Ring and the bull-fighting museum to uncover our bull-fighting history.

For the art and history lovers, we have many activites planned. On Tuesday 15, we will explore the most well-known museum: the Guggenheim museum. For more classical art, we will check out the works at the Fine Art Museum on Wednesday 23 and we will go to the Museum of Reproduction on Thursday 24.

In order to find out more about the bombing of Guernica during the Civil War, we have organised an excursion for Tuesday 22. We will go to the Museum of Peace, and the Casa de Juntas.

We know all too well that cuisine plays a very important part in total immersion, and so we have planned an introduction to the cuisine of different cultures. On Thursday 10, we will host an international dinner in order to make the most of the fact that our students hail from all over the world.

On Fridays (11,18,25), we will sample the typical food of the Basque Country: pintxos.

Don't miss out on these fantastic opportunities. They are a great way to discover the city and to practise Spanish outside the classroom.
