Bilbao named as the favourite destination to learn Spanish for foreigners
Last Monday Instituto Hemingway was mentioned in the published newspaper DEIA, in which the increasing popularity of Bilbao as the destination for learning Spanish was confirmed. The reasons for this increased popularity include its perfect size, boasting both beaches and mountains, its cultural offer aswell as being a new city for traditional tourism.
A number of members of staff and students from the school, each of different ages and professions were interviewed. The introduction to the facilities, teaching staff and students was carried out by our director. Albino (27 years old) from Italy commented that she had previously visited the city and loved it so much, that she knew she wanted to come to Bilbao for 2 whole weeks. Nicole, a Spanish teacher from Germany arrived in order to take part in a recycling course for teachers. Furthermore, a 19 year old au pair stated how she wanted to escape the heat and mass tourism in cities she had previously visited such as Barcelona and Ibiza and instead experience au pairing in Bilbao. According to the director of Instituto Heminway, due to the rise in English and the poor teaching of it in schools, more and more people are becoming interested in such cheap residences abroad upon wishing to learn a new language.
It´s clear that Bilbao is becoming more and more international and little by little, keeps offering a wide range of services for tourists from anywhere around the world, that wish to combine a beneficial stay, improving their Spanish with a well deserved holiday. What is most commented upon by our students is the safety of Bilbao´s streets, its special cuisine, the friendliness of its people and its size, which allows you to reach everywhere and everything very easily.
