Free activities for Spanish courses in October 2015
We have prepared a list of cultural activities and organised visits for the students of Instituto Hemingway! You can view the list through the calendar on our website, in the archive next to the extranet.
Importantly, all the activities are free! It is a great way of getting to know the city, make new friends and practice your Spanish.
This month we offer the following activities:
On the 1st of October we are off to the Basque Museum where you can gain an incredible insight into the history, life and traditions of the Basque people. In addition, as part of our schedule of activities you can see the Maritime Museum on the 6th of October and the Museum of Fine Art on the 28th of October. Moreover, we encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to visit the Guggenheim Museum, the most famous museum in Bilbao.
As well as this, we will view the city from the top of the Artxanda funicular, where we will gain an alternative perspective of the city. We will also visit the the Plaza de Toros- one of the most important in Spain-, and go to the town of Portugalete where we can admire the magnificent Puente Colgante (hanging bridge) which was designed by Don Alberto Palacio Elissague in 1893 and is now a National Heritage site.
In our offer this month there is also a trip to the Arriaga Theatre on the 14th of October to listen to Celtic music and on the 8th we invite you to come with us to the impressive Palacio de Diputación (a local government building).
Every Friday we organise a pinxtos dinner. This is a great chance to try tortillas, paellas, tapas and to converse with teachers and other students. On the 29th of October we meet for an international dinner and on the 5th of October we enjoy chocolate with churros, a popular Spanish snack. Also, our students will have the opportunity to taste white wine, red wine and sherry on the 7th, 21st and 27th respectively. For cinema lovers we also have a Spanish film night.
We look forward to hearing from you!
