February Cultural Activities News

Every month we organise an array of exciting social and cultural events that come free with all of our Spanish courses. This February we have a few particularly special events lined-up!

Our free activities are part of what makes us special. We believe that learning outside of the classroom is highly valuable. Moreover, in order to obtain the utmost educational benefit from our Spanish courses, we maintain that our students must feel absolutely comfortable and settled-in Bilbao. Our activities provide all these benefits, by giving you the opportunity to get to know your course mates and teachers, in an open and friendly environment.

What’s on offer:

We start the month with an amazing opportunity to see the enchanting San Juan Gaztelugatxe, one of the most emblematic attractions in the Basque Country. On the 2nd of February we enjoy churros with chocolate, followed by a trip up the Artxanda Funicular to take-in wonderful views of the city from above. After a theatre trip to see the musical “La Celia” on Thursday, we hold our much anticipated 17th anniversary party on Friday night! This is always a highlight of the year, which includes fancy dress, karaoke, wine and pintxos.

We begin the second week of February with a trip to the Maritime Museum to learn more on the origins of Bilbao as one of Spain’s key ports. We continue exploring cultures through our International Dinner, which gives our students the opportunity to try different foods and recipes from other countries. On Wednesday the 10th we visit the fabulous Fine Arts Museum which hosts a huge variety of art from the last 1000 years. After enjoying a Spanish film projection the following day, we will treat ourselves to pintxos on the Friday. Pintxos is always a popular event, allowing for students and teachers to socialise in a relaxed atmosphere, with a variety of tasty food and wine!

On the 15th we take a trip to La Alhóndiga cultural centre, followed by the iconic Guggenheim Museum on the Tuesday, one of Bilbao’s major sights. On the Wednesday we launch an intriguing new event, Beer Tasting with our teacher and beer connoisseur, Gregorio! On the Thursday we enjoy a rock concert at Satélite T, followed by Pintxos on the Friday.
Finally, on the Monday of the last full week in February we kick things off with a trip to Portugalete, where we will see the impressive Biscay Bridge and partake in a beautiful coastal work in Getxo. On the Tuesday we have our traditional Wine Tasting activity with Alfredo, followed by a trip to the Basque Museum the next day. As we come to the end of the month we have a drinks evening on the Thursday, where all of our students are entitled to a free drink at a trendy local bar. Lastly, we round things off with our favourite Pintxos night on the last Friday of February.

We hope to see you there!
