Spanish in Bilbao: Enter into a unique linguistic and cultural world

Learning Spanish in Bilbao is an incomparable experience, with respect both to the language and culture. Moreover, our students often remark to us the kindness of the local people and that the local accent is relatively easy to understand.

The Basque Country is a unique region, with a rich, individual culture. There is a strong cultural connection with the land, and the abundance of high quality ingredients that it yields. The gastronomy is one of the many enviable aspects of this privileged region. Additionally, the Basque culture and cuisine are deeply related with the sea which attracts visitors from all over the world; many come to surf owing to the excellent waves. In fact, the Basque coast is recognised as one of the best places in Europe to surf. Thanks to its advantageous coastal location, Bilbao has become one of the main commercial ports in Spain. The local is diversifying more and more. It is home to the head offices of BBVA and Iberdrola, international business in the banking and energy sectors, respectively.

Moreover, Bilbao has become a popular destination for language tourism. Recently, one of the School’s managers, Alfredo Orive, attended a meeting in the Basque Parliament on language tourism, an increasingly popular form of tourism. We believe that this mode of travelling allows visitors to get to know a new country and culture in a more profound way, whilst improving your CV and broadening your horizons. We also offer cultural and leisure activities on a daily basis with the aim of providing you with a deeper insight into the fascinating Basque and Spanish cultures. Of course, it also presents a great way to get to know new people and make friends.

Our school, which became 17 years old this February, has the slogan ´contigo es diferente´ (with you it is different). Our school is different due to the friendly atmosphere that we promote in the classroom, as well as fun activities we organise outside the classroom. We place a special emphasis on building lasting relationships with our students.
