Delicious pintxos for students of our Spanish course
Do not forget that tonight is Pintxos Friday! Every Friday night, as part of Instituto Hemingway’s free, daily activities, we take our students to enjoy Bilbao’s famous cuisine completely free of charge. Meeting at Instituto at 20:30, we then go to Bilbobeer where they will serve us pintxos and wine all night.
Forget tapas, the Basque Country has its own version – pintxos. Varying hugely in flavour and style, pintxos are a very similar concept to tapas. Small portions of food are served on a slice of bread and usually enjoyed with a glass of txakoli, the local Basque wine. As mentioned, the type of food served on top of the bread varies entirely; pintxos truly cater for every taste! Even if you are vegetarian, vegan, gluten intolerant or very specific in your taste, you will always be able to find pintxos that suit your taste.
Bilbao is famous for serving some of the best pintxos in the area. Packed with Michelin star restaurants, the city takes its gastronomy very seriously and therefore competition amongst restaurants is fierce. Subsequently, anywhere unsatisfactory or overpriced simply does not last. As a result, the standard of cuisine in Bilbao is extremely high and Bilbobeer lives up to the high level of expectations that tourists have when they visit this culturally rich city.
So if you would like to enjoy some free, delicious pintxos every Friday then do not hesitate to join us at Instituto Hemingway. Take part in our worthwhile Spanish lessons in the morning and in the afternoon get to know this wonderful region of Spain thanks to our free, afternoon activities.
