Spanish courses and wine tasting course in Bilbao: 23 and 30 July 2015

At Instituto Hemingway we organize cultural activities for our students who are studying Spanish with us. All of the activities are free and are an excellent way to learn about Spanish culture and make the most of a stay in Bilbao.

One activity that we offer from time to time is based on the world of wine: visits to wineries and wine tasting courses.

In this case we offer our students a collection of wine-related activities with a view to introducing them to Spanish wine culture. Perhaps for a complete beginner, the world of wine seems very simple; however in reality it is not. There are many aspects and qualities to learn about and recognize: guarantee of origin, varieties of grape, production techniques, wineries, ways of presenting and serving wine etc…

Just coming to Spain and visiting monuments and museums is not enough if you really want to know our great country. Wine has always played an important role is our culture and for this reason Instituto Hemingway offers a wine tasting course that will allow you to discover the most important elements of the universe of Spanish wine. In this way you will discover the cultural role of wine in our country. You will learn where wine is made, in which regions, and which wine corresponds with each Spanish region.

This course will allow you to distinguish between the different wines produced by our country.

We hope to tackle all of these aspects bit by bit during short talks that we will organize throughout the Summer months of 2015.

All students of Spanish courses, those of the DELE Spanish teaching course and internship participants are invited to take part, learn and sample some fine wines. What is more, they will have the opportunity to learn new words and vocabulary and many expressions linked to the world of wine.

Our first session will be Thursday 23th July at 19:00 at the School. The session will last more or less two hours. We will discuss guarantees of origin in Spain and will taste three young white wines: one from La Rioja, one from La Mancha an teh last one a chacoli from Bilbao area.

Our second session will be Thursday 30th July at 19:00 at the School. The session will last more or less two hours. We will discuss guarantees of origin in Spain and will taste two young seasonal wines: one from La Rioja and the other from La Mancha.
