5 reasons to study spanish and other second languages

1. It helps us to understand our own language better! Does this surprise you? It´s true! If you only speak one language you don´t have a reference to compare it with. In other languages, the same idea is expressed differently so therefore by learning another language you will pay more attention to your own and will help you to use the tenses, prepositions, adejectives and adverbs better.

As the learning progress develops, you will realise that your writings and thoughts become more creative. Havey you ever stopped to think that the great poets and writers in reality speak more than one language? Your knowledge of the world that surrounds you is greater. One unquestionable reason!


2. Travelling around the world becomes more pleasant and uplifting. When you know, or at least have a go at learning another language, travelling opens up new dimensions. One feels more relaxed and less complexed since the knowing the language is a tool to understanding the local customs, its history, its expressions etc. On the contrary, many feelings and sensations are lost when one has the ability to communicate in anotehr language. Also, the fact that you make an effort to learn to speak the language means that locals show more empathy and this can open up many doors. Here, we have another reason and I encourage you to put this into practice any day, in any place and see the results!

We´ll become part of the “global village” Nowadays, it´s a reality: with all the tools that the latest technology offers us about what´s going on in the world, this has reduced the size and also the mobility, for professional and personal reasons, so it´s becoming a necessity for people to learn other languages. From the point of view of buisnessmen, the majority of companies already have an international outlook and so this is the 3rd most important reason!

4. Learning other languages adds value to any CV. Here we have another reason that requires more explanation, right? I´m sure that we all have experienced this, either for adding value to your CV or because your CV has lacked value. The ability to speak other languages adds value to any CV.

5. Learning languages enhances our emotions and our culture. Have you ever stopped to think about the “new worlds” open to us? I´ll give some examples: to learn about different styles of music, literature from other countries, different snese of humor (therefore we widen our opportunities to come together, something we should really bear in mind, above all for the benefits to our heath), the stories told by ourselves, etc. All of this does more than just opening up our cultural horizons and helps us to see the world from multipleperspectives. Can you think of anything more enriching than this?

But, if none of these reasons convince you, you can´t refuse this one: BRAIN FITNESS or how to keep the brain young and fit! I could spend hours writing about the advantages of learning languages. It´s a fascinating field that has no limits. From my own experience I can tell you that the advantages exceed the inconveniences and the effort that has to be put in. On this note, what language do you want to learn?
