International wine tasting with spanish courses on the 26th of july
On the 26th of july we have planned another wine tasting very interesting. This time wines that are the :
Novissimus,

Macvin du Jura,

Bürgerspital
Novissimusis a fresh, brilliant and aromatic wine and it appears harmonious in mouth. This wine belongs to the grape variety of “La Verdejo”.

Verdejo represent a range of wines whose first grapevines were plant in Toro and la Tierra del vino and the region of la Rueda during the reign of Alfonso VI XI-XII century.


La Verdejo blanco, o more commonly called Verdejo, is a White grape of Spain.

It represent a product obteined from crossing between traminer, best knows as como savagnin, and castellana blanca.
This grape variety is present particularly in Comunidad de Castilla y León.

The successive region that stands out for the great presence of verdejo is Extremadura,followed by Castilla-La Mancha.Furthermore, there are small amounts planted in Asturias, Cataluña and Murcia.

It’s estimated that , by 2007, there was 11.000 hectare in Spain of this grape variety. For a long time consumers predilection for red wine relegated an important part of crops of winemaking for wine brands.

In recent years public preference for Whites wines has increased and this has caused that is developed best specimens

The grape verdejo has extended much in the zone of th Denomination of Origin (DO)

Rueda where it fits well to sandy soils.

In the decade of 2010 its cultivation has begun to be frequent in Australia. The wines are slightly alcoholic. The color is yellow with steely tones. They are very aromatic wines and are characterized by having a bitter almond aroma.
Another wine that we will be sampling is Macvin du Jura is a French liquor wine covered with AOC since 1991.


It is a mistela of 16 to 18 degrees, made from a mixture of must with brandy or with marc brandy from Franche-Comté of 52 degrees usually in the proportion of one liter of alcohol per two liters of must.

Riesling is the queen variety of German viticulture.

It is a grape that comes from the region of the Rhine. The Riesling vineyard is optimally developed in Germany due to its cold and humid climate which is ideal for growing this type of grape.


The characteristics of the Riesling grape: the marked acidity with floral aromas, the citrus and apple notes and also its mineral character due to the change in the type of soil that is very frequent; That is why different wines are given in the same plot.

The result of these conditions are wines with rich nuances, with body and complex aromas.
