Spanish courses and wine tasting: activity in Bilbao on Wednesday 18 October
The next Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 7 pm we invite you to participate in a wine tasting that we have organized at the Institute. Wine tasting is an activity for all students of Spanish courses and people interested in learning about the world of wine. If you are in Bilbao and you want to learn new things, do not hesitate and learn to taste with us.
This time we are going to taste 3 very different red wines that come from different places and varieties. They are middle aged wines so we can contrast different styles within aging.
These are the three wines that we are going to try:
Viña Mayor Crianza 2014, is a wine from the winery Viña Mayor of Denomination of Origin of Ribera del Duero. Tinto, Crianza, 100% Tempranillo. Color: Intense ruby, Aroma: High fruit intensity combined with notes of forest fruits and spices from the wood. Taste: Juicy and fresh. Round with a very well integrated tannin. Grape selected and harvested by hand. Consumption temperature 10ºC-17ºC approx. Harvest by hand and 12 months aging in French oak. Balanced, intense and expressive.
SOMMOS Merlot 2014, is a wine from Somontano Denomination of Origin of Sommos Winery. Merlot 100%. 14 months in oak barrels. It has intense cherry red color with ruby tones, clean and bright. Aromas of good intensity and capacity where they appear very mature red fruits, cocoa, with mineral notes and spyces.
Harvest: 2nd week of September. Evening harvest from 24:00 to 8:00. Grape processed over months of selection.
SOMMOS CRIANZA 2013, is a wine of Sommos Winery from Somontano Denomination of Origen. Wine made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. Aged in French oak barrels for 9 months. Limited edition of 15,000 numbered bottles.
Intense ruby red color with violet nuances, Intense scent and complete blend of red and black fruits with the spicy aromas of the wood. Mouth, soft attack, broad and with long aftertaste.
