Students from Our Spanish Course Visit San Sebastián

This Saturday (17th March), the students taking our Spanish courses will go to the city of San Sebastián to enjoy the Golden Shell city. At 10:00am a bus will come and pick us up and we will set off on our adventure. Before arriving in the city, we will stop off in Getaria, an old fishing town which aside having beautiful coastlines and cliffs to enjoy, has the honour of being the city where the sailor Juan Sebastián Elcano was born. He was in fact the first man who sailed around the world. With the views that he had in his home town, it's no wonder that he was a sailor!

And what with wanting to discover new places, we will set off to our final stop. We will get off in the Ondarreta area to start our visit, then will walk to the cable car to admire the seamless transition from the choppy sea to the city. Then we will cross to the other side to see the Comb of the Wind, which is a sculpture by Eduardo Chillida which both photographers and tourists are fascinated by.

Half way through our trip, we will continue walking along the coastal path until we come to the Miramar Palace. This is where the Spanish Kings in the olden days would come for their summer holidays, but now it is part of a university.

Being so close to the old town, we will then go and enjoy walking down the little alleys to get a feel for the medieval city that it was and its history of being a fishing town. Here in the old town, the students will have the chance to enjoy some typical pinchos!

In the afternoon, we will finally get on to visiting the cathedral and other attractions which are worth seeing.
