5 Celebrities Who Speak Spanish!

Spanish is spoken by 521 million people around the world, however among these people are also celebrities.

That's why we have come up with a list of well-known stars who you didn't know spoke Spanish.

1. Matt Damon
The actor who fought in Saving Private Ryan and who also travelled to other galaxies like in the film Interstellar, surprises us with a level of Spanish that he learnt through immersing himself in the language when backpacking around Mexico and Guatemala. Between both classes and practising the language in both countries, this trip gave him a good enough level in Spanish to be able to get by. On the other hand, at home he has the same task at hand, as his wife Luciana Bozán is Argentinian and so at some point, even if it was just the odd word, Spanish has been something that they've shared in their life as a couple.

2. Natalie Portman
The actress amazes us with her knowledge of other languages as well as her achievements as much on the cinema screen as in her studies as a psychology student who graduated from Harvard University. Having taken classes, she can now hold her own in Spanish, as she has a certain love for languages. The actress even surprises us with some Spanish words in a few interviews!

3. Sigmund Freud
The famous psychoanalyst went to unexpected extremes in wanting to learn our language. His goal was to read Don Quijote de la Mancha’s book. With such determination in wanting to learn our language, he even founded a small organisation which he called Academia Castellana. Here's a little extract to show the flair he had for our language.

4. Natalia Tena
The actress who plays Osha in the Game of Thrones series, has Spanish parents and is therefore bilingual. She has no difficulty in using both languages and so is occasionally her own dubber in some episodes.

5. Will Smith
The super-famous actor speaks Spanish in such a way that he is even able to tell a series of jokes. It also surprises us that he encourages his children to speak Spanish and even tells us that sometimes they speak between themselves in Spanish at home.

All of these stars are proof that doing a Spanish course is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested, as Spanish is beginning to be internationally recognised. Celebrities don't think twice when choosing this language either for working or for being able to travel.
