New Activities for July with Spanish Courses in Bilbao

With the new cultural activities plan, you will have a lot to do in Bilbao this month with us!

Our students love to try something different like salsa classes, visiting museums, getting to know the culture of the Basque Country and enjoying the gastronomy that this region has to offer. That's why we offer a wide range of activities so that everyone can make the most of their experience here in Bilbao.

You can download the calendar here or have a look at the website www.institutohemingway.com. In addition to being free, the activities we offer are a great opportunity to get to know your classmates better, discover our culture, what the city has to offer and of course improve your Spanish.

We already have a range of activities for the first week of July, starting with seeing street acts, which are part of the theatre festival organised by the Bilbao City Council. Throughout this week there will be performances ranging from street theatre to circus acts, contemporary dance and street music, along with acts from Europe's best clowns. With companies from countries such as France, the UK and Italy, you will have the opportunity to come with us to see two of these shows on the 2nd and 4th July.

If between these performances you want to relax with your classmates, enjoy some special wines with your friends and learn some wine jargon, we have a wine tasting evening on the 3rd at 19:30pm.

But let's not forget our youngest students! Also this week we have a visit to the cereal bar, which is probably the place with the largest variety of cereals in our city. Choose the size of your bowl, the type of cereal, the milk and the toppings you want and you can have fun creating your perfect combination for a colourful snack.

The following weeks of July will be full of opportunities to get to know Spanish culture better. If you would like to loosen up a bit after Spanish classes, we have the perfect activity for a little exercise and for having a good time, as on the 11th and 17th at 5pm we will have a salsa class with a very talented teacher in the world of dance. So we hope that after this class, you'll have learnt some essential steps to be able to dance salsa in the bars around Bilbao.

On July 10th and 18th, we will go to the historically important town of Guernica, which was also the inspiration for the impressive painting by Pablo Picasso. Also, on the 12th and 19th we will visit the most famous contemporary art museum in Bilbao, designed by the Canadian architect Frank O. Gehry, which is the Guggenheim Museum. For everyone who visits our city, going to this museum is a must! If you like to visit museums and if you would like to get to know the culture of our region, on the 26th we will go to the Basque Museum so that you can impress your friends and family with some interesting facts about the life and history of the Basque Country.

Let's not forget that with a few days of sunshine forecasted for the last week of July, we must take advantage of the beaches that are nearby, so on the 25th we will go to the beach at 15:00pm to enjoy the calmness of the sea and maybe even a yummy ice cream too. We always have a great time at the beach and it's a good opportunity to spend some time with your friends and get a tan! In addition to these beautiful, natural places, there are many buildings of historical and religious importance to visit here in Bilbao, one of which is the magnificent cathedral that we will visit on the last day of the month.
