The Spanish Course November Cultural Activities Are Here!

Our November cultural activities will be starting on the Friday the 2nd with our weekly pintxos night as the 1st is a holiday so our students and teachers have the day off! The following week, we will be kicking off the week with a visit to the Casco Viejo where our students will get to reward their taste buds by eating a typical dish from Spain: Ibérico ham. Later that week, on the 8th of November at 7PM our students will get an incredible opportunity to attend a special wine tasting at the prestigious Club Cocherito, Bilbao’s oldest society.

The club opened in the 1900’s and has done an impressive amount of charity work since then. The society is also recognized for its love of bullfighting and its implication in many activities. Pedro Losa, oenologist and commercial director, will explain, in a practical way, the new tendencies of La Rioja wines. Javier Urroz, a gastronomic journalist and member of the Club, will moderate the discussion. You surely don’t want to miss this one of a kind opportunity!

The week of the 12th we have two very popular activities amongst our students making a comeback: salsa dancing and the cereal bar! On Tuesday the 15th, our students will get a chance to move their hips to the sound of Latin music and learn a few moves to impress family and friends. The next day, we will take the group to the Cereal Bar close to San Mamés. This bar started as a university project and has been successful ever since its opening. With a wide variety of cereal and milk to choose from, this activity promises to please everyone! On November 13th, we will be making our pool night.

On the 20th of November, we have planned a visit to Plaza de Toros; our students will get to see the arena where takes place the famous bullfighting competitions, a pillar in Spanish culture. On the 22nd, Alfredo will be hosting a wine tasting evening in Instituto Hemingway. Once again, our students will get the chance to savor some great quality wines – a great way to share some laughs, conversations and warm up with the colder days of November!

On Sunday, November 25th, in the morning, we will be making our way to the top of the Pagasarri Mountain, where an incredible view awaits you! You don’t want to miss this!
The last week of November will start with a visit to Portugalete; a chance to visit the historical Colgante bridge as well as take some beautiful pictures of the neighborhood.

On the 28th of November, our students will get to admire the beautiful works of art of some of the greatest artists of all times with a visit to the Guggenheim museum. And, to end the month, as always, a night out with La Familia del Instituto Hemingway! Some fun guaranteed!
