Activities with Spanish courses in Bilbao: wine tasting January 15, 2020

Are you ready for another interesting tasting? On January 15, 2020 you will have a new opportunity to satisfy your curiosities about wines.

All students of the Spanish courses are invited to participate in the wine tasting.
The objective of this wine tasting is to appreciate different flavors of the wines depending on the type of grape selected and the presence of more or less flavors of barrel
For this occasion we have chosen three very special wines:
- SOMMOS CRIANZA 2015: the grapes selected for the production of this wine belong to the Montesay and Monesma vineyards. Three grape varieties are used separately to make this wine.
The fermentation is done in a traditional way at 26 degrees and the maceration is 7 days. After the malolactic fermentation it is taken to French oak barrels after which the three varieties are assembled.

Raised on its lees in a selection of French oak barrels for 9 months and later resting in the bottle.
The color that characterizes this wine is intense ruby red with violet hues.
The aroma stands out for being intense and complex because of the mixture of red and black fruits with the spicy aromas of wood. In the mouth it presents a smooth, wide attack and with long post taste.
The main grape varieties in the elaboration of this wine are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.

SOMMOS MERLOT COLLECTION
The grapes used in the process of making this wine come from the Montesa vineyards. The harvest takes place the second week of September and is nocturnal, that is, it takes place from 12:00 a.m. at 8:00 a.m. and the grape is selected on tables.

The maceration is carried out in cold for 48 hours and the fermentation is traditional in French oak vats with temperature control fermenting at a temperature below 28 degrees.

The maceration with its skins takes place over 15 days, after alcoholic fermentation. The malolactic fermentation takes place in new French oak barrels. Once this is finished, we proceed to a careful selection of the best barrels and subsequent assembly.

Aged on its lees in a particular selection of new French oak barrels for 12 months. The color is intense cherry red with ruby tones, clean and bright.

Aromas of good intensity and quality where they appear with very ripe red fruits, with mineral and spicy notes. In the mouth it is tasty, structured and perfectly balanced. They emphasize the fruity and spicy tones that give it a great complexity when tasting it, very persistent.

- VIÑA EGUÍA RESERVA 2014,
Bodegas Eguía uses a 280-hectare vineyard of the Tempranillo variety, mainly from the Rioja Alavesa sub-area. It has a cherry red color with ruby and tile trim.
The nose shows complexity and intensity, with aromas of jam fruits, sweet spices (clove and nutmeg), roasted notes and memories of herbs in infusion and blond tobacco.
In the mouth it is aromatic, tasty, elegant, with a fresh and vivid acidity and a fluid and friendly step. Enjoy integrated mature tannins and a persistent finish and rich in nuances.
Do not think twice and participate in our new tasting.

It will be a perfect opportunity to learn more about Spanish, learn more about wine and socialize with others.
We will wait for you here: -)
