January Activities

Finally 2020 is over, and what better way to start off the year than by exploring Bilbao. Instituto Hemmingway offers multiple free cultural activities every week so that you can enjoy all that Bilbao has to offer. To kick off the New Year we will be going to Museo Belenes. This museum features an array of nativity scenes created by many different artists. Nativity scenes are very important for the Spanish culture and it is a great way to celebrate the Epiphany.

Then we will visit the great Teatro Arriaga to watch an opera. Watching a play is great way to test our Spanish listening comprehension skills. As well as the theatre we will be going to a really cool exposition of Legos this month. There will be many realistic sculptures built from just Legos. 

As always we will be visiting Bilbao’s most famous tourist attraction, the Guggenheim Museum. We will also visit the Basque Museum which is a great opportunity to learn about the history of the Basque country. 

Every week this month there will be some sort of food or wine tasting, such as churros con chocolate and Iberian ham sandwiches. Learning about Spanish culture through food is always a fun time! 

To finish off the month we will be holding one of our annual pintxo nights. A fun Friday night filled with Basque tapas!
