Activities this July for our students at Instituto Hemingway

With summer now in full swing, it is time to reveal the activities calendar for July! Our students can look forward to a range of great activities from culture and gastronomy to spending time in the outdoors.

To kick off the month with a bang we are going to a music concert on Friday 2 July at 7pm. This concert by David Lenguas is called “Palabras rescatadas” meaning “rescued words”. The music covers multiple styles and the lyrics have a characteristic poetic style.

The following week, on Monday 5 we will be relaxing in the evening at 7pm by sampling some wine. Then on Wednesday 7 at 7pm our students will get the opportunity to witness a flamenco show, a true Spanish art form with its passionate music and dance. To round off the week we will be visiting an ice-cream parlour to taste some delicious ice creams at 4pm. ¡Que rico!

What better way is there to start the week than by taking in the marvellous views of Bilbao from Artxanda viewpoint? This is what are students will have the chance to experience on Monday 12 at 4.30pm. On Wednesday 14 at 6.30pm our students can show their competitive side with an evening of bowling. Will anyone get a lucky strike? At the end of this week on Friday 16 at 4pm we will be visiting the infamous Guggenheim Museum, home to world-renowned works of art and a perfect place to discover what cultural marvels Bilbao has to offer.

On Monday 19 we will be sampling some delicious jamón at 6.30pm. This week will also see a lot of time in the outdoors for our students. On Wednesday 21 at 4.30pm we will be taking a scenic walk along the coast from Getxo to Sopelana beach. After classes on Friday 23 at 2pm we will have a picnic in the park.

The final week of July is sure to be a delicious one starting with pinxos tasting on Monday 26 at 7pm. You simply cannot come to Bilbao without trying some of these classic dishes. On Wednesday 28 we will once again be venturing away from the centre of Bilbao to Puerto Viejo, a picturesque area with lovely courtyards perfect for a drink. Finally on Friday 30 our students will be going to taste some chocolate con churros at 4.30pm. What a great way to finish the week and the month!
