We have a new activity for the students of the Spanish courses in Bilbao. This time it is a wine tasting that we will do on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. at the school headquarters in Bilbao.
The objective of the tasting is to learn Spanish and get to know some of the best red wines that you can find in Spain. On this occasion we are going to enjoy 3 wines from different appellations of origin and from different grape varieties. Learn about aromas, flavours and how to properly taste a wine
In this wine tasting, three different wines will be the protagonists and we will see together which ones they are.
Sommos Merlot Collection 2015
Wine: intense cherry red, a nice color degradation on the edge towards ruby tones. Fresh on the nose, with floral hints of violets. After this, notes of ripe fruit very well integrated with the spicy and smoky notes of barrel ageing. And on the palate: round, long, with crisp, lively tannins and a long journey.
A wine from the Somontano denomination of origin based on Merlot, aged for 18 months in a selection of new medium-grain French barrels.
Marques of Griñon Caliza
It is made from the Graciano, Syrah and Petit Verdot varieties. The grapes come from vineyards between 15 and 20 years old planted on clay soils with pure limestone subsoils, hence its name.
The elaboration of Marqués de Griñon Caliza begins with a manual harvest and destemming in the cellar. With the prepared grape, a traditional alcoholic fermentation and a very long maceration of 1 month are carried out.
Subsequently, the wine is aged in Allier French oak barrels for 10 months in a heated aging cellar.
Vega Medina 2015,
a wine from the Viñedos y Bodegas LYNG winery from the Rioja de Viura denomination of origin of vineyards with more than 30 years. It is a wine with a transparent and fruity color, which must be drunk very cold.
Viñedos y Bodegas Lyng is located in a region for the cultivation of the vine of the Qualified Denomination of Origin of Rioja. The winery is built on a 20,000m2 plot in Mendavia, Navarra, on the banks of the Ebro River.
