The students of the Spanish courses and Spanish cinema
On Friday, December 12th, we invite students to take part in a colloquium organized by the Club Cocherito de Bilbao, accompanied by film director Albert Serra, where his movie Tardes de Soledad will be discussed. The film was recently recognized by the magazine Cahiers du Cinéma as the best film of 2025.
Despite its subject matter, the film leaves viewers unsure whether it defends the beauty, art, and honor of bullfighting, or whether it exposes the humanity and brutality of its practices.
To offer different perspectives, Salvador Boix, known for being the manager of José Tomás, will also be present.
Students from the Spanish courses will not only be exposed to the living language during this event, but will also witness the meeting of different arts—such as bullfighting and cinema—under one roof. It is a valuable opportunity to approach this complex reality of Spain, a theme present in many works of art and literary figures.
After the colloquium, students who wish to do so are invited to enjoy a glass of wine in a nearby place and continue practicing Spanish in a more informal setting.
