Invitation to Spanish language students to participate in Santo Tomás
Like every year, the Santo Tomás Market will take place on the 21st of December, 2025. This tradition is a reminder of when the farmers would come to pay the rent for their land, that they cultivated with their best products. Since they had already made the journey, they would also bring products to sell to the rest of the population.
This tradition was established year after year, becoming a tradition where farmers not only bring their excellent cheeses, chorizos, ciders and food products, but also a musical, atmospheric and gastronomic event.
Eating a "talo" (a delicious Basque corn cake), is a recent tradition. We recommend going first thing in the morning because sometimes the queue is so long that you might have to wait more than 35 minutes to order one!
For this reason, we will meet the students at 9am on Sunday the 21st of December, to enjoy this tradition and try different seasonal delicacies.
This event marks the beginning of Christmas in the Basque Country, and we want our Spanish students who are staying in the city to join us.
Come along!
