Instituto Hemingway joins the socially responsible schools

After an evaluation process, we are pleased to announce that Instituto Hemingway has been awarded the Socially Responsible School seal by FEDELE Spain.

This seal identifies our school as an organisation committed to a number of initiatives that care not only for society, but also for the environment.

In which areas do we stand out, and where do we want to make a greater impact?

We have stood out thanks to our efforts in having equality protocols, an environmental good practices manual, an employee handbook, among other initiatives related to human expression in its various forms.

On the other hand, after years of working with different social and charitable organisations such as:

  • The animal shelter in Basondo
  • Art therapy for people with disabilities
  • Support for the EGBA football team to promote integration into Spanish society through sport
  • Donation of fresh produce to a social soup kitchen run by the Servants of Jesus of Charity through our vegetable garden project

These projects have distinguished us as a school with social responsibility, although we aim to improve further with the following goals set for 2028:

  • Reducing energy consumption
  • Promoting recycling at the school
  • Planting trees
  • Recycling paper through the creation of new paper
  • Finding new social areas in which to collaborate

We would like to sincerely thank the volunteers who have participated in our school over the years. We also thank the associations and hope to continue making a positive impact.
