Spain - Cape Verde in the 2026 World Cup - Support from our Spanish school in Bilbao!

Today Spain plays against Cape Verde. This is the first match of Group H, kicking off at 18:00 (peninsular time) in this edition of the World Cup, which is taking place in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

This year, the national team features players who are very close to our school: Nico Williams and Unai Simón play for Athletic Club de Bilbao, and due to geographical proximity, we also count on Mikel Oyarzabal, who plays for Real Sociedad.

The Spanish team is under pressure to show their strength in this first match following Germany's spectacular thrashing of Curaçao (7-1) the day before.

We also cannot ignore the result of the Netherlands—who, lest we forget, were runners-up in 2010, the exact year Spain emerged victorious in the competition. They played a thrilling match against the Japanese national team, ending in a 2-2 draw.
