Celebrities also visit and learn Spanish in Bilbao

Bilbao, a large city in the north of Spain, is in fashion. It receives many visitors who come to get to know it´s beauty and cultural offerings. Celebrities from the worlds of culture, music and politics have walked the streets of Bilbao, enjoying it´s charms. Pierce Brosnan filmed various scenes for “The world is not enough” in the city; the American singer Mariah Carey recorded a video clip; Smashing Pumpkins, one of the most influential contemporary rock bands, chose the modern museum the Guggenheim as the location for their promotional tour for their album “Adore”. The American director Oliver Stone visited the Guggenheim incognito and returned the next day to complete the tour. “This is one of the most impressive works of art of this centaury”, were his words as he left.

The actor Brad Pitt, Michael Caine, Alberto de Monaco, Pet Shop Boys, Salma Hayet or the Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa are other distinguished visitors to Bilbao. The international film festival in San Sebastian, a step away from Bilbao, has brought big stars to the Biscayan capital. The excellent and modern transport networks (metro, tram, train, bus, airplane and boat) make Bilbao an accessible and comfortable city.

It is normal for many celebrities to visit Bilbao. The beaches, surf competitions, nature, sea and mountains, sport, gastronomy captivate every visitor. But what is perhaps most surprising is that there is another reason that celebrities come to Spain: to take a Spanish course with Instituto Hemingway and combine it with visits and cultural activities.
