Tapas, red wine and pintxos in Casco Viejo (Bilbao)

Instituto Hemingway had organized a tapas night last Friday as part of its cultural activities. Jose, our director took us, the students of Instituto Hemingway to Café Bar Bilbao in the picturesque Plaza Nueva in Bilbao. Almost all of the institute’s students were there, making the most of the good weather!
The Plaza Nueva is a monumental square in the heart of Bilbao’s old town. This square or plaza is a very popular meeting place for the Bilbainos. The plaza consists of many coffee shops and so, in the evenings the plaza is filled with people having a drink in the cafes in the plaza.
The plaza was quite crowded on Friday. Some of the bars were playing some soft Spanish music. We had some red wine and tried a variety of pinchos. It was a nice way of getting to know the city and experiencing the culture. We also had the opportunity of practicing our Spanish. All of us really enjoyed the tapas activity. It was a perfect way to end the week!
