Appearance in the Basque Parliament related to language tourism
On Friday the 18th of April 2016 we had the opportunity to work with the Basque Parliament through the Commission of Economic Development and Competiveness, which created the Law of Basque Tourism. During the meeting we defended some amendments that we had initially raised, that we understood could contribute to the improvement of the legal project in its parliamentary processing.
Alfredo Orive appeared in the meeting, who, as well as explaining the objectives of the proposed amendments, identified areas of improvement in the current writing of the legal project. Furthermore, he expressed the suitability of designating language tourism as a specific type of tourism in the proposed law. It is evident that language tourism has become an important source of income. Many for students come to the Basque Country to study Spanish as a foreign language.
The Basque Tourism Legal Project is currently being formulated in the Basque Parliament. The law will regulate extensively diverse elements that affect tourism and could hold special significance for tourism focused businesses.
