Wine Week: A Selection of Free Activities for Spanish Students

We have planned Wine Week for the month of June, which comprises a selection of free activities including visits to wineries and wine tasting sessions. It represents an excellent opportunity to deepen your understanding of viticulture, as well as practicing your Spanish skills and making new international friends.

For this week we have set ourselves the objective of demonstrating to students the immense diversity and quality of Spanish wine, especially wine from the north of the country including variants from La Rioja and Txakoli (a Basque white wine).

During these 7 days we will visit the winery Bodegas Bilbaínas; one of the most important in Haro, La Rioja. The trip will take place on Saturday the 11th of June; we will meet at 9:45am in the School.

Next, on Monday the 13th of June we will experience Astobiza, another winery which specialises in producing Txakoli. Txakoli is a white or pale coloured wine which is normally quite dry with a fruity flavour. This winery is located in Álava, in the south of the Basque Country.

The following day, our wine connoisseur Alfredo will teach us about Spanish wine, from the fermentation process to the 3 phases of tasting wine properly. We will enter into a world of Spanish wine which includes a humongous variety of grapes, land and production methods that offer magnificent results. This session will take place on the 14th of June and we will taste white wines. To finish off Wine Week, on the 16th of June we will have our final wine tasting, this time with a selection of delicious red wines. Our wine tastings are always one of the most popular activities in our events calendar!

The free activities comprise a fundamental pillar of our school. They have an excellent way of getting to know Spanish and Basque culture, as well as making new friends from all over the world. Here, you can view our selection of activities for June 2016.
