Wine tasting in Bilbao on Thursday 1st December
Next Thursday 1st December 2016, we invite all of our students to participate in a wine tasting session that is scheduled to begin at 19:00. It will be held here at Instituto Hemingway and hosted by our very own wine expert Alfredo. As mentioned, all students are invited so if you are keen to learn about wines then come along! On this occasion we will be sampling 3 Spanish red wines from Rioja. We have decided to do a vertical tasting, meaning that we will take wines from the same wine cellar but from different years and with different upbringings.
We have chosen a very well known wine cellar, Marqués de Carrión, who love Pata Negra (Black Paw) wines. We will sample 3 wines:
- The first that we will taste will be a young wine from 2014 made from a selection of tempranillo grapes.
- The second wine from 2013 is also made from a variety of tempranillo grapes.
- The third wine from 2012 is made with tempranillo and has been in a barrel for 36 months.
The objective of our wine tasting is to see how the same wine can taste differently as a result of its upbringing and purpose. Furthermore, it will be an opportunity to learn new Spanish words associated with wine tasting.
