Cultural Activities November 2020

With November nearly upon us we can´t help but look back at the crazy year we have had and wish 2021 would come sooner. Nonetheless, we at Instituto Hemingway have lots of exciting activities planned for this wonderful winter month ahead! And they´re all free to our students.

On the 2nd November, we kick of the month in style with a classical music concert, called ''The Sound of Memory''. It will be taking place in the Arriaga theatre, with music directed by José Rafael Pascual Vilaplana.

On the 4th and 18th, we continue along our classy theme with a wine tasting right here at the Institute with Alfredo Orive. Expect fine wines, learning, socialising and some nibbles on the side!

Every Friday of the month we have our traditional Pintxos night, a Basque take on tapas, washed down with some Kalimotxo (red wine and coca-cola, a classic in this region). On Monday 9th, we are going to the Guggenheim art museum! Come with us to get some real culture from artists such as Lee Krasner and Olafur Eliasson.

Having studied the details of masterpieces, we will then put our brains to the test at an escape room on Wednesday! An Egyptian-themed game for up to 6 people per game, it is one of the very best in the city, so expect to have a lot of fun - and remember to work as a team to get out as fast as possible!

On the 16th we are going to the cinema, and students get to choose any film they´d like - not only a relaxing and social activity, but one that puts into practise Spanish listening skills learnt in the classroom!

A week later we will visit t the Bellas Artes Museum to absorb more of Bilbao´s arts and culture. On Wednesday we shall see masterpieces including some from the Valdés collection.

On Monday we will be enjoying some Ibérico ham at a delightful sandwich shop called De Bellota.

We will round off the month with a friendly few games of futbolín (table football) at Sunset Bar in Casco Viejo. What a perfect way to finish the month!
