Cultural and leisure activities for August 2023:

We have already prepared the program of free cultural activities for all students of Spanish courses in Bilbao.

August is perhaps the month that best represents summer, this marvelous season which, with its intense luminosity, makes us long for skies with some gray clouds; with its violent and sometimes unbearable heat it makes us appreciate the freshness of a glass of water or a dip in the salty sea water.But the Hemingway Institute doesn't close its doors to go on vacation and continues to offer its students various interesting activities.

To begin with, Wednesday 2 August at 17.00 we will have the opportunity to shelter from the summer heat by eating delicious ice creams in one of the best bars in the city.

Thursday 3 August at 15.00 we will visit the Cathedral of Santiago, a catholic cathedral of the fourteenth century with a discreet neo-Gothic facade.

Monday 7 August at 16.00 we will visit the famous Guggenheim Museum of Contemporary Art, designed by the Canadian architect Frank O. Gehry.

Tuesday 8 August at 19.00 with the special collaboration of Professor Alfredo we will be able to taste typical wines in the classrooms of our institute.

Monday 14th August at 3.00 pm we will go to the beach where we can have fun playing with water or sand.

Tuesday 15 August at 17.00 you can visit the city from another perspective: we will ride on bikes.

Wednesday 16 August at 16.30 we will go on an excursion to the Casco Viejo district, which is part of the old city of Bilbao and lies directly across the river.

Furthermore, for three days we will have the opportunity to watch toreos, one of the most deeply rooted traditions of Spanish culture. The days are: Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd August at 5.00pm and Friday 25th August at 10.00am.

Monday 28 August at 4pm we have planned an excursion to the cliffs of La Galea, which impress with their unique nature.

On Tuesday 29 August at 7pm, we will again enjoy a wine tasting with typical Spanish wines together with Professor Alfredo at our school.

And on the last day of August, Thursday the 31st at 4pm, we will visit Portugalete, the place with the famous Vizkaya Bridge.

These activities together with the classic dinners of pintxos are free for our students of the Spanish classes in Bilbao.
