Volunteering program - animal shelter

Instituto Hemingway offers a volunteering program for our students to sign up to, which includes a range of activities. To help local animals in the area, we regularly take a group of students to an animal shelter in a local town that cares for dogs and cats, as well as donkeys and pigs. Our volunteers can take care of the animals at the shelter and get to know them for a whole afternoon, up to several times a week.

The shelter encourages volunteers to give attention to their dogs and cats, which are taken care of at the shelter before they are re-homed to a new, caring family. This is a fantastic experience for our students to make a difference to society here.

Instituto Hemingway is more than just a school that teaches Spanish. We offer a great variety of cultural activities for our students to experience the city of Bilbao, as well as to truly immerse themselves in the culture of the Basque Country.
