Why send your child to Instituto Hemingway?

Instituto Hemingway is a special school which is situated in the centre of Bilbao. Bilbao is a beautiful city and safe in general terms. There are many things to do here and the Basque Country has a very unique culture to take advantage of.

In the morning, the Spanish classes are from 9:30 until 1:30, with a 30 minute break in the middle. As well as this, there are activities almost every afternoon. We offer a fantastic variety of activities that are free for our students.

These activities normally include a visit to the Guggenheim Museum which is a world renowned museum, a bicycle route around the river, eating churros with chocolate in a cafe, a visit to Casco Viejo (the old part of the city), a visit to a town to see the suspension bridge and many more things.

We also have accommodations close to the Institute. We know that the process of finding accommodation is difficult and therefore we offer a diverse range of options including: shared flats to get to know other students at the school, individual flats and furthermore we can offer you the opportunity to live with a family or be an au-pair.

If you are interested in our volunteering programme, we have a broad range of these which include: beach cleaning, taking care of dogs and domestic animals at the refuge shelter, gardening in the countryside, teaching English and art-therapy.

Living in another country would give your son/daughter an unforgettable experience, it would offer them a chance to enjoy another culture in a new place for a period of time. Furthermore, we would help your child to get involved in everyday life here in Spain and to get to know new people so that they can develop their communicative skills.
