Upcoming Cultural Activities for June 2024 at Instituto Hemingway

Every month, Instituto Hemingway offers a fantastic range of activities for students. Bilbao, a beautiful city with a rich cultural heritage, provides numerous opportunities for exploration and engagement. Our students can immerse themselves in Spanish culture while discovering new places and making lasting memories. As June approaches, we are excited to present another month full of exciting activities!

Monday, 3rd June: Excursion to Casco Viejo and Artxanda

To kick off the month, on Monday, 3rd June at 4 pm, join us for an excursion through Casco Viejo, Bilbao’s medieval old quarter. This lively riverside district is renowned for its modern shops and traditional taverns lining the iconic Seven Streets. After exploring Casco Viejo, we will take a funicular ride to Artxanda, offering stunning panoramic views of the city. This activity is perfect for history buffs and photography enthusiasts alike.

Tuesday, 4th June: Visit to the Guggenheim Museum

On Tuesday, 4th June, we will visit the renowned Guggenheim Museum, a masterpiece of modern and contemporary art designed by the acclaimed architect Frank Gehry. The museum spans 24,000 m², with 9,000 m² dedicated to exhibition space, showcasing a dynamic collection of artworks. This architectural landmark not only captivates with its innovative design but also provides a stunning backdrop for the art on display. Wednesday, 5th June: Walk Along the Cliffs and Beach of Sopelana

On Wednesday, 5th June, we will enjoy a scenic walk along the cliffs and beach of Sopelana. This beautiful coastal area offers breathtaking views and is a great spot for nature lovers. Bring your camera and enjoy the fresh sea breeze as we explore this picturesque part of Bilbao.

Every Friday: Pintxos Night

Our traditional Pintxos Night continues every Friday. This weekly event is a fantastic opportunity for new and returning students to socialise and enjoy delicious pintxos (Basque tapas) and drinks. We meet at the school at 8 pm, where a member of our team will guide you to a local restaurant. These evenings are very popular, so we hope to see many of our students there!

Tuesday, 11th June: Picnic at Casilda Park

On Tuesday, 11th June, we will have a relaxing picnic at Casilda Park, a favourite among locals. This central park is an ideal spot for soaking up the sun and enjoying the serene surroundings. Meet us at the school at 2 pm, and don’t forget to bring your picnic blanket!

Thursday, 13th June: Excursion Along the Ereaga Cliff

On Thursday, 13th June, join us for a 2-hour excursion along the Ereaga cliff. This activity promises spectacular views and a refreshing outdoor experience. Be prepared for a bit of walking and bring comfortable shoes!

Monday, 17th June: Wine Tasting Night

Another Hemingway classic returns on Monday, 17th June: Wine Tasting Night. Our colleague Alfredo, an excellent sommelier, will guide you through a selection of delicious wines, enhancing your vocabulary and appreciation for wine. You’ll also have the chance to try local cheeses and sausages. Meet us at the school at 7 pm for an evening of refined tastes and delightful company.

Wednesday, 19th June: Visit to the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum

If you love art, don’t miss our visit to the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum on Wednesday, 19th June. The museum boasts a collection of over seven thousand pieces, including paintings, sculptures, and applied arts, spanning from the 13th century to the present day. This activity is perfect for those looking to deepen their understanding of art history and appreciation.

Monday, 24th June: Boat Trip Along the Bilbao Estuary

On Monday, 24th June, we will take a scenic boat trip along the Bilbao estuary. This leisurely cruise offers a unique perspective of the city and its landmarks from the water. It’s a wonderful way to relax and enjoy the beauty of Bilbao.

Wednesday, 26th June: Another Wine Tasting Night

Due to popular demand, we have organised another Wine Tasting Night on Wednesday, 26th June. Alfredo will introduce different wines for you to taste, expanding your knowledge and palate. Join us again at 7 pm for an evening of wine, food, and good company.
