Flamenco and Spanish courses: Flamenco events 2008

At Instituto Hemingway, we programme activities related to flamenco for all students of our Spanish courses who wish to gain a fuller understanding of flamenco as a means of cultural expression.

For the third consecutive year, the arrival of Autumn brings to Bilbao the series known as ‘a river of magic, flamenco events 2008’

The events and activities programmed to take place this year during September and October are organised by the departments of culture and education of the Bilbao city council along with the production company ‘Sonikete’. They aim to promote the enjoyment and knowledge of flamenco, a blend of music, culture and artistic expression, highlighted by its nature of drawing people together to take part.

Shows, concerts, instructional classes, and workshops maintain continuity as in past years, to which this year there needs to be added new type of activities using audiovisual effects and more information to offer the public a more focussed and universal view of flamenco.

This is the programme that we have drawn up to allow out students at Instituto Hemngway to experience flamenco.

• Saturday 13th September at 7 pm – Flamenco Concert
• Tuesday 16th September at 3 pm - Photography exhibition ‘"Flamencópolis. Territorios flamencos"
• Friday 19th September at 7 pm – ‘Palos de Flamenco’ Instructional class
• Saturday 20th September at 7 pm – Instructive class with Laura Vital and Manolo Franco
• Saturday 27th September at 8:30 pm- Flamenco Show
• Tuesday 30th September at 7:00 pm – Film seasons. Flamenco film
• Tuesday 1th October at 7:00 pm – Film seasons. Flamenco film
• Saturday 4th October at 8:30 pm – Flamenco concert
