Flamenco on the Spanish Course in Bilbao

On Friday 6th March we have another date at the Arriaga Theatre www.teatroarriaga.com for an evening of Flamenco with María Pagés. This offers all the students studying Spanish and those students on placements the opportunity to enjoy some great Flamenco! The meeting time is at 19.30 at the school, and the performance starts at 20.00.

Although it would appear otherwise, Bilbao offers a great Flamenco program throughout the year, which we attend religiously.

After a long journey of experimentation and investigation, María Pagés returns to..SEVILLE, the root of all of her adventures, on and off the stage.

“Seville, which they called me when I arrived in Madrid to work at the age of fifteen, filled with a robustious adolescence and an almost exotic air of Seville about me, was the place where dancing became my reason to exist.”

As well as the Buleriás, Soleá, Tientos, Tangos, Tonás and Debla, which follow one another within a musical act that deserves a separate chapter, there are also five choreographic moments, which have to be emphasised: the Shostakovich Waltz and the Rose Bularías, Maestranza, Alzo una rosa (Ergo uma rosa), Volver, Volar.
