Wine-tasting: complementing Spanish courses in Bilbao
At Instituto Hemingway we consider it very important to combine Spanish classes with leisure activities which allow you to find out more about the culture and customs of the country. We therefore organise extracurricular activities to run alongside our Spanish courses.
This time, we are offering a fun activity for all our Spanish students, as well as those doing internships, in order to learn a bit more about the culture of wine.
On Thursday, April 23rd, we are encouraging you to come to the school at 7.30pm to learn about wine. On this occasion, we will be focusing on white wine and we will study the most important wine-producing regions in Spain. We will also learn about aspects of wine production, varieties, ageing, etc.
During the wine-tasting we will learn how to observe wine, visually discovering many shades and learning to describe them. We will also learn to pick out the wine’s aromas and how to use them to identify the variety and age of the wine.
We will be trying the following wines:
- Castresana Joven Blanco. A young white wine from Rioja, produced by Bodegas Castresana and made from 90% Viura and 10% Malvasía grapes. Refined, fragrant and structured, with a warm, sweet taste.
- Pago de Cirsus Chardonnay. A white crianza wine from Bodegas Pago de Cirsus, originating in Navarre and made from Chardonnay grapes.
So, on April 23rd we are going to put our noses and palates to the test in order to discover the wonderful world of wine, or, more specifically, white wine. We look forward to seeing you.
