Spanish Courses and Flamenco with Sara Baras in Bilbao
Flamenco is synonymous with colour, energy and joy and of course, dramatic and exotic costumes. Spanish language students of Instituto Hemingway visiting Sara Baras new performance were not disappointed.
Flamenco crosses boundaries and has an emotive impact on its spectators. People from all cultures are attracted to this striking art form, just like our students from across the world who come here, not only to learn the language but also to be immersed in the Spanish culture.
The performance was divided into nine separate scenes which together created a new and unforgettable show which paid homage to Saras ten year career and her evolution as an artist.
Live music, an unbeatable dance troop, invited artists, the soberness of the scenery, vibrant displays of colour, elegent costumes, the funtionality of the stage setting and amazing flamenco were all features of this spectular performance which recaptures the best of gypsy tradition.
Having seen the performance, a key and fundamental characteristic of the art of flamenco is the emotional connection with the audience. Despite it being the the first time we had all seen this artistic discipline, it awoke our emotions and touched our hearts.
