ELE Spanish teacher: Courses and Formation for the work

The number and the importance of Spanish teacher increased during the last years in the whole world, due to the expansion of the school system. The work of the Spanish teachers is important especially by the teaching work which we fulfil like planning lessons which we make from the culture of our country. Therefore, the education is of vital importance for the Spanish teachers especially in Spanish educational theory. In Spain, within 50 years we pass into a traditional teaching system with the adoption of technique, strategies and modern instruments. The teachers` formation ELE still remains much deficiency although it has improved very much with the formative offer of didactics of Spanish. Although it is difficult to know it with accuracy, the teachers González, Larraz and Torres carried out a questioned ELE study with approximately 700.000 teachers of Spanish in the world, both full-time and part-time, which gives us an idea of the dimension of the sector and of the professional possibilities. The majority of those teachers reach a high position with 24 or 25 years, whereof 80 % are university graduates.

We, in Instituto Hemingway, were conscious about the specific educational Spanish formation to guarantee Spanish classes. For that reason we expect 2 formation courses for teacher. The ELE Course for teacher will last about 80 hours and can be made as a distance study with the virtual classroom any time during the year. Also there is an ELE teacher course which takes place in Bilbao every autumn. That course will begin on October 13th. Besides that course we, recently, created an ELE Course for Advanced, which deals with concrete matters of educational Spanish. This course is offered as a distance learning course. Finally we have support courses for Spanish teacher who are not native speaker, which is a combination of Spanish course and education. This course is directed to teacher, who want to be up to date as well as the use of the language and question about the materials and the lessons. This course takes place in Bilbao and will last at least one week.
