Flamenco and Spanish course in Bilbao

On the 6th of October the students of Instituto Hemingway have an appointment to watch flamenco in Bilbao. All the students are invited to go to the Arriaga theatre to watch the last show organized by the dancer Rafael Amargo.
The Arriaga theatre in Bilbao offers an interesting programming to which the students of Instituto Hemingway, which offers that kind of cultural activities for free to their students, are usually going. A great way, to get to know the Spanish culture.

The artist Rafael Amargo presents, in his dual role of dancer and choreographer, his latest creation: Rosso

The show is based on the meeting and fusion of music and images from southern Italy, featuring the Spanish flamenco tradition, as demonstrated by the name Lola Greco, winner of the 2009 National Dance Award in the Performance and Creation categories, respectively, “for her charisma and great creative talent in tackling the performance of all areas of Spanish dance."

For Rosso, prestigious Italian artists have composed new original music, on which the choreographic work of Rafael Amargo and the video projections are founded, and then united in the staging of Mario Gas. Coproduced by the Caserta Festival (Naples), it will open on 23 July and be performed at three of the city’s theatres and at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, before arriving in Bilbao.

Rafael Amargo is an eclectic dancer and choreographer. He has studied the purest flamenco from his teachers, but has also assimilated other choreographic tendencies. His creations, often very close to contemporary dance, never lose their point of reference at the heart of flamenco.
