Hospitality management review in Spain
My Hospitality Management review: After my graduation in Germany I wanted to go abroad for a short time before I begin with my studies. As I am very interested in the Spanish language and culture I searched for some information in the internet. Therefore I found the language school Instituto Hemingway in Bilbao. The Instituto Hemingway offers Spanish courses as well as some hospitality management programs which offer the possibility to make an internship in the gastronomy field. Consequently I decided to go to the northern part of Spain to the Instituto Hemingway to pass a Spanish course for 4 weeks and to do an internship for 3 month in a hotel.
The language course helped me to improve my Spanish, to get to know some lovely people and to explore the city Bilbao. As well the course was a good preparation for the following internship in the hotel, given that not a lot of the Basque people speak English.
After the Spanish course I began with the internship also in Bilbao. The collaborators of the hotel welcomed me very friendly. They helped me with problems or questions and we also spend our leisure time together in the Casco Viejo or at the beach. I worked in the service field of the hotel and by turns I had to work in the early or late shift. The work was very good and my Spanish language skills had improved during this time.
Unfortunately the whole 4 month in the Basque country went by that fast. Over this period of time I got to know a lot of friendly people, my Spanish improved and I discovered the Spanish culture. When I will go back to Germany right now, I will treasure this time here in Spain!
