Instituto Hemingway reviews in Spanish programs

With a little help from the trade association, I was able to go to Bilbao to learn Spanish.I did not want to go to a typical place for foreign tourists and I really love gastronomy, surf and architecture and this was the right spot at the right time and I was not wrong!!

t was a long held wish, but it had never taken any action. Suddenly I was able to book two weeks in a language school in Bilbao and I took the opportunity. I visited Bilbao from April 19th to May 2nd 2010.

I visited the Instituto Hemingway language school and stayed in a fairly new appartment. It were two great weeks, had a nice room, I met some very nice and friendly people, had a vacation and learned a bit of Spanish too. The house I would be staying is in downtown, next to School, 10 min far walking. When I arrived it was sunshine and a wonderful day in Bilbao. My map was great but I was happy to be helped by two girls who spoke English.

It was a real Spanish house with a `parte interior` (the inside of the house looking down on the courtyard) and a `parte exterior` (looking on the street). It has an elevator, but you climb the stairs faster: Every morning we would go to school. I took a lot of lessons, so I had to stay until 1:30 pm. After school we would go shopping, to the movies or to a bar.

The school offers Spanish courses from one week to as long as you like, really, at any level. I was personally a complete beginner when I started and I found the pace of the beginners` class to be a little bit too slow for me, because I pick up languages quite quickly, but had I asked to be placed in a more advanced or faster-paced class, that could have been arranged.

The learning material is very practical, though, and I did pick up Spanish a lot faster than I would have in school, for instance. The classes are all quite small, with a maximum of ten people. That way you can get to know your classmates very quickly, and you can be sure that everybody gets enough attention from the teachers. Unless you sign up for an extra intensive program, you will have four hours of class every day.
