Group of Americans attend a cooking course in association with our Spanish school

A group of 35 American students from Kentucky were recently able to participate in an express cookery course organised by our Spanish school. During their 15-day tour round Europe, the students have visited Lisbon, Asturias, La Rioja, the Basque country and, before heading to Bordeaux and Paris across the French border, they left a small gap in order to take part in a cooking class here in Bilbao.

Following the Head Chef’s instructions, the students cooked a menu consisting of seafood soup, peppers stuffed with meat and rosquillas (small, hard, sugary Basque Country doughnuts.) The students all got stuck in with the numerous processes involved in the preparation of these dishes: chopping onions, carrots, leeks and cooking the various ingredients. The rosquillas were by far the most popular dish and there were more than enough students ready and willing to knead and shape these delicious homemade doughnuts.

Members of our Spanish school were on hand to help translate the instructions given by Ana, the cooking teacher. Once they had finished cooking all three dishes, the students tucked into their dishes, and all waxed lyrical about their fantastic taste.

Proud of the finished products, and with all the recipes in their pockets, the students left the cooking school with smiles on their faces with the intention of trying out their newly learnt skills upon returning to the United States.
