Students of our Spanish courses visit Bilbao´s Fine Art´s Museum
On Wednesday I took the students to visit Bilbao´s Fine Art´s Museum, which opened in 1914. This is a museum that is filled with culture and includes paintings, sculptures, works on paper and applied art which ranges from old to modern art. The art is mainly done by Spanish artist and have a Basque influence with works by famous Basque artists.
This museum is large and spacey and we spent a couple of hours viewing all the wonderful art pieces. There are many exhibition halls for visitors to see amazing pieces of works by such artists like: Moro, Goya, Barceló, Villaamil and many more.
A favourite of some of the students was the “Matta 1911-2011” exhibition in room 32, which uses a mixture of science and nature in his art with an influence on American Abstract.
In room 33 shows the art work of Daniel Tamayo whose art is influenced by pop movement and uses a lot of colours and movements in his art. This too was liked by some of the students for its use of lots of bright colours.
Once you have finished browsing this wonderful museum you can visit the shop where you can buy a selection of interesting books, postcards, Jewellery and things for children.
This museum is also free entrance for everybody on a Wednesday.
